Radiology Services for Pets

At The Animal Doctors of Orange County, imaging plays a crucial role in uncovering what’s happening beneath the surface. Our specialized radiology services provide detailed insights into your pet’s internal organs, helping us diagnose conditions early and develop the most effective treatment plans.

Partnering with a Board-Certified Radiologist

We are proud to work with Dr. Ann Reed, DVM, DACVR (Radiology), a board-certified veterinary radiologist. Dr. Reed visits our facility to perform in-hospital consultations and diagnostic imaging, allowing your pet to receive expert care without the stress of traveling to a specialty center.

Abdominal Ultrasounds for Pets

One of the most powerful diagnostic tools in veterinary medicine is the abdominal ultrasound. Using safe, non-invasive sound waves, this test creates detailed images of your pet’s organs, including the liver, kidneys, spleen, bladder, intestines, and reproductive system.

Reasons your pet may need an abdominal ultrasound:

  • Persistent vomiting, diarrhea, or unexplained weight loss

  • Abdominal pain or bloating

  • Abnormal blood work or lab results

  • Detection of masses, cysts, or tumors

  • Monitoring chronic conditions such as liver or kidney disease

  • Pre-surgical evaluation

During the procedure, a small patch of fur may be shaved on your pet’s abdomen to provide the clearest images. In some cases, very light sedation may be used to help keep your pet calm and still, ensuring the most accurate results.
